Thank you for visiting my online shop.
I am Claire Hunter, a textile designer and handweaver specialising in homeware and accessories.
Upon graduating from The Scottish College of Textiles in 1997, I worked for a Scottish mill designing top end furnishing fabrics and tartan designs for the UK, European and American markets. After ten years, I took some time to enjoy and spend time with my children and in 2016 I set up Taffled Threads.
Based in central Scotland, near the beautiful Ochil hills, I design using traditional techniques. I weave on a 16 shaft 130cm wide dobby loom and a 24 shaft sample loom, which allow me to produce creative and complex designs. I can weave up to 130cm wide and a maximum of 10 metres in length. All fabrics are woven using high quality natural yarns and are produced in a sustainable manner.
I love to create unique traditional yet modern items. Inspiration takes many forms, however I am particularly drawn to surface patterns, textures and colours, which surround us in our everyday lives. The heritage of this beautiful country with it’s special places, history and traditions also inspires me and I love to blend contemporary elements with classic patterns.
